My Approach

I’m a storyteller wedding photographer from Yorkshire. I like to tell the story of your wedding day from the preparation, right through to the dancing – picking up on all the little details that make it special and unique to the two of you. I have an unobtrusive photography style so that I capture natural moments and the emotions of the day. But I also will schedule time with you during the day to ensure I capture the more directed shots to get those ‘wow’ images that look perfect as a centerpiece in your wedding album or for your wedding photo wall.

Ahead of your day: Getting to know you

It’s important to me to get to know you as a couple which is why I offer a complimentary pre-wedding photo shoot with all my full day wedding packages. These are super chilled sessions that take place Monday - Friday around the Harrogate area. We’ll chat about your wedding, have a little practice in front of the camera and most importantly have a bit of fun! It’s all about you feeling comfortable in front of the camera at the end of the day.

Harrogate pre-wedding photo shoot ideas:

  • A walk with your dog in the countryside

  • A stroll through The Valley Gardens is always beautiful in every season

  • At your farm! We can include the horses, the sheep, the cows.. you name it!

A couple of months before your wedding day I’ll send you a form to fill out on all the details of your wedding day - timings, photo lists and everything I need to know to make sure I get the perfect photos of your day!

On your wedding day: Enjoy your day!

On your wedding day I’ll be floating around in the background snapping away as your day as it unfolds. Making sure to capture the laughter, the tears and all the in between. I’ve been photographing weddings for over a decade and so I pride myself on being able to fit in with your guests and capturing all those candid moments as they happen.

Bridal Prep

I love starting my day photographing the Bride getting ready with her family and best friends! I photograph all of your special items for the day (your shoes, perfume, dress etc.) as well as capturing the excitement and emotion of your morning. My top tips for the perfect wedding morning are:

  • Get all your bits ready the night before and keep the room as clutter free as possible.

  • Prepare a playlist ahead of time.

  • Plan to be ready early! You’ll feel comfortable knowing you have spare time if anything delays you in the morning and if not, you’ve got time to have a glass of something bubbly.

  • And relax! Let the professionals you’ve booked work their magic and just enjoy your morning.

The Ceremony

From the first look of your future husband/wife to the exchanging on vows. This is often the part of your day that is most emotional and always so beautiful to capture. My favourite moment of almost any wedding is when the couple see each other for the first time during the walk down the aisle. Make sure your parents have plenty of tissues!

FAMILY PHOTOS

Everybody wants the family photos but nobody wants to spend hours on their wedding day taking them, I hear you!

Group photos can be tedious for guests without a plan but my aim is to change this narrative! Before the wedding I will ask you for a list of ‘official’ family shots you want on your wedding day. After the ceremony I work through the list (with a little help from a groomsman or sibling) and organise the group photos so that it runs smoothly and we get all the shots done in a timely manner. My advice is to keep your list short with no more than 10 combinations of family members. This way you spend less time posing and more time enjoying the day with your friends and family.

Just the two of you

This is where I love to get creative! Whilst your guests go off and enjoy a drinks reception or some nibbles this is the perfect excuse for us to sneak off and get some photos of the two of you! We can do this at the grounds of your wedding reception or if you are lucky enough to have a great location minutes away, we can take a drive!

Depending on the timings of your day and the time of year, it’s sometimes nice to nip out for 5-10 minutes again after your wedding breakfast. If you hit golden hour, the lighting can be stunning and I often find this is when coupels are feeling more relaxed after enjoying a lovely wedding breakfast.
